“A slow creaking of a house that has been still longer than time is relevant. Slow, cautious, progress. Make deals with the shadows that position them away.”
I read from my meditation journal. The channeled entries often start with a feeling of profundity and don’t always make sense, but I pen what flows out nonetheless.
Today we exit Mercury ☿ retrograde
Imagine a crane lifting a giant communications satellite from the bottom of Scorpio ♏️ swampwater. Communicative qualities shift from internal to external. The energy of stillness remains, saturating our renewed flow while providing us the power of immovability.
Because we’re orbiting the Sun ☉ while these other planets also orbit stars, the path Gaia sees them move through is sort of beautiful-fascinating. This is what 2019 Mercury ☿ retrograde cycle looks like over time. The red tick mark is January 1, 2019 and January 1, 2020 is black.
I’ve estimated our current stationary Mercury ☿ positioning of 11º degrees Scorpio ♏️ in that lovely burgundy.
Before they start moving forward, from our earthly perspective, Mercury ☿ will appear to stand still from 14:12 to 23:25 EST.
While appearing stationary it will pass from the 10th house to the 1st house over 9 hours and 12 minutes.
Mercury ☿ will radiate Scorpio’s ♏️ energy of complete-confidence outside and wise-but-emotional inside through our 10th house of career and prestige, 9th house of philosophy, 8th house of rebirth, 7th house of relationships, 6th house of daily life, 5th house of creation, 4th house of home life, 3rd house of communication, 2nd house of security, and 1st house of self.
Imagine a “GO” light switches on in each of those areas of life as Mercury ☿ “passes.” Safe to say this will be an energetically transformative event.
Neglected in this direct hit of Mercury ☿ is the 11th house of collective and 12th house of subconscious — but that’s fine. We’ve been spending weeks in the subconscious, the underworld. And as for collective, we all have been feeling it.
The current energy of the cosmos mirrors Mercury ☿’s energy shift
Our Sun ☉ is moving into Sagittarius ♐️ — into an energy of fire and exploration which has the potential to lean into recklessness. Our Scorpio ♏️ stillness will come in handy.
That dark blue line from Mercury ☿ in Scorpio ♏️ to our Moon ☽ in Virgo ♍️ means they’re 60º away from each other. This is called a sextile and is a harmonious blending of energies that you may not even notice — an energy reminiscent of Mercury ☿’s transit through the houses over the next 9 hours.
The last aspect we’ll touch on is that thin red line from Uranus ♅ in 3º of Taurus ♉️ connecting with Mars ♂ at 0º degrees of Scorpio ♏️ — the two IRL energetic entities are in opposition. This 180º connection places each of their respective energies at heads with the other.
The best way I’ve been taught to remember what each aspect’s interaction illustrates is to imagine they’re sitting at a table.
On one side is Uranus ♅ who is erratic, surprising, rebellious, but in a grounded way thanks to Taurus ♉️. Directly across at the other side of the table is Mars ♂ who wants action and finds Scorpio ♏️, a water sign, makes him moody and sluggish.
Both planets are in fixed signs (middle of the season) and will stand their ground in a borderline uncompromising way.
Uranus ♅ and Mars ♂ both want a little excitement. Expect the unexpected today. Put some effort in to get Mars ♂ moving around that Scorpio ♏️ stillwater while keeping emotions in check, and Uranus ♅ in Taurus ♉️ should follow suit. A powerful energy combination to tap into.
Cautious, level-headed, creative actions (Mars ♂ in Scorpio ♏️) taken today may help materialize the unexpected into reality (Uranus ♅ in Taurus ♉️).
Shifting attention to tarot cards to illustrate the current collective energy
In this case, our question about the current energy is regarding how to proceed.
I pull three cards and use the bottom of the deck as guidance on what the first three are illustrating. Here is today’s pull, in order.
XII THE HANGED MAN — This is a Major Arcana (life milestone energy) card of changing perspectives. The character illustrated is smiling, indicating he is hanged there by choice, quite literally changing the way he sees reality.
III OF WANDS — Wands are the fire element bring action needed to manifest. Threes represent growth, creativity, expression. In astrology the Third House is of communication and learning.
QUEEN OF SWORDS — Swords are the air element representing logic, thought, ideas, and all that exists in consciousness but not the manifest world (for it is fire that brings the air to earth and transmutes them to water). Queens are the influencer of their suit. Our Queen of Swords influences creation and action. She is stern, but only because her air element nature comes before water.
II OF WANDS — This card was on the bottom of the deck. Twos represent balance, decisions, and partnership. In astrology the Second House is of security, value, material; all that is required to cover our manifest body’s basic needs. With those needs met we are able to focus on other decisions. The man illustrated is looking out at the world contemplating exploring now that he has secured a homebase.
The messages from our astrological energy reading come rushing back in. Here let us put together the cards and their archetypal meanings.
The collective energy illustrated reads as:
Preparing to move from solid to uncertainty. To do so, we are encouraged to change our normal perspective regarding how we typically progress. Because this is coming from a Major Arcana card it is likely a long term change in how things are done in your day-to-day.
Since our Queen of Swords is a face card it can be read as the querent or a subject within the inquiry. Based on the context of our other cards it seems we are being asked to embody her energy.
Take note of the reds — she is pouring streams of grounding energy while sitting up high in the airy clouds.
She is wearing a cape of blue-green that matches the sky, a color of the lower throat chakra; closer to the heart chakra that is the energy of green.
This symbolism says “heartfelt truth” — and judging by her intricate and large stone throne, long unsheathed sword, and weathered but strong face, it is a hard heartfelt truth when it needs to be.
She is ready and willing to do whatever needs to be done; I mean, where is the sheath for the sword even?! Plus the carved baby face on her throne appears so very angry contrasting the butterfly energy beside it.
You heard it from the stars and cards first.
TL;DR // IRL ONE-LINERS, PLEASE?
Currently you might be feeling some YAS QUEEN vibes.
The schtick is you are kind of an elderly queen damaged by the perils of war. You’ve seen the underworld and death, but you’ve also created life (some of which was probably also lost).
Move forward by being unmoving and instead using your influence to create.
I hope that resonated for some of you! If you ever have a question about the charts or cards, particularly those in each Astrofluenced issue, please don’t hesitate to reply to this email 🙂
